View from Hotel in Patzcuaro 11x14 oil
The hospitality of the Mexican people and their eagerness to please visitors is sometimes incredible. It was always fun to paint from rooftops and if I spotted an easy access, I was never denied permission. However, in this case, we were staying in a very nice hotel in Patzcuaro, “Posada de la Basilica,” almost beyond our budget. The hotel sits high on a hill, with a third level lounge above the restaurant affording incredible views. We did not discover this lounge right away, but when the hotel management realized we were artists, they guided us up the staircase to the upper level and declared, “You must paint from here, is the best vista in the city.”
