Hacienda Gate - 9x12 oil
Somewhere on the small roads south of Mexico City we stopped to wander around in a small village which had tall church steeples we could see from the road. It's interesting how you can see church steeples from afar, but when you drive into the village, through narrow streets, it becomes difficult to find the church. The only church in this small town was within the walls of an abandoned hacienda. We explored all around behind the walls of the hacienda but the church was in ruins as a result of an earthquake in the 1980s. Not wanting to miss an opportunity to paint, I decided to set up my easel and do a small painting of the hacienda gate.
